IBC Training

Biosafety training is required for all researchers applying to the IBC. Each training course is completed online. Researchers must email training receipt to the IBC upon completion, indicating what protocol they are applying to work on. ÌýTraining is required for all faculty, staff, and students who work on a a current IBC protocol.

IBC Training Requirements

Below are the required training modules for all personnel listed on an IBC protocol. Each entry explainsÌýwho needs the training, how often it must be completed, and how to access it.

Initial Biosafety Training

  • Who Needs It:ÌýAll personnel listed on an IBC protocol
  • Frequency:Ìý´¡²Ô²Ô³Ü²¹±ô±ô²â
  • Access:ÌýProvided through the CITI Program

OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Training

  • Who Needs It:ÌýPersonnel listed on an IBC protocol where human blood is being used
  • Frequency:Ìý´¡²Ô²Ô³Ü²¹±ô±ô²â

Information Privacy & Security Training

  • Who Needs It:ÌýPersonnel on an IBC protocol where Protected Health Data (HIPAA) is being accessed
  • Frequency:ÌýEvery 3 years

Shipping & Transport of Regulated Biological Materials

  • Who Needs It:ÌýPersonnel shipping hazardous materials (including dry ice)
  • Frequency:Ìý´¡²Ô²Ô³Ü²¹±ô±ô²â

Board of Regents Right to Know Training

  • Who Needs It:ÌýAll personnel listed on an IBC protocol
  • Frequency:Ìý´¡²Ô²Ô³Ü²¹±ô±ô²â
  • Access:Ìý

Board of Regents Hazardous Waste Awareness Training

  • Who Needs It:ÌýPersonnel using chemicals or biologicals (including human blood) under an IBC protocol
  • Frequency:Ìý´¡²Ô²Ô³Ü²¹±ô±ô²â
